OneNote - Print Page Problem
ones2006 11/9/2008 7:13:01 AM
Hello,

When I select

"Print"

"Pages"

and enter "1"

it prints the whole first 'PAGE' in the section of the notebook.

If this is simply how things are, that one 'PAGE' is 'Page 1,' then I think
the next version should call 'PAGES' 'TABS' and have real pages.

Does anyone know a way for me to print an actual '8.5 x 11' page off of this
'PAGE'?

It's very frustrating. I can't even tell where the 'Page 2' (as according to
what will be printed) starts so I can copy it and paste it somewhere else.

Now my notes are in here and I have no control over them.

Is it clear what I'm trying to say? I select printing for page one and I get
nine pages.

If you are attempting to print one page:
- select the page
- Menu: File-Print Preview
- change your paper size to suit
- click Print...
- click OK button (do not change the Pages number, you should leave it, it
appears to be a relative reference to the selected page within the notebook)

AFAICS this does *not* do what the OP has asked for!
This way too the whole ON page is printed not just 1 page.

The only ways I found so far are:
- printing to FinePrint and deleting the unwanted pages there, then
print;
- creating a PDF and printing the wanted part from the Adobe Reader.

Sad as it is, Yes that's how things are.
Only workarounds possible (pls se my reply to David).

Your wish the next version is really valid.
Printing from ON is an area where ON is truly very poor. Important
things missing, f.e. the possibility to set pagebreaks.

To be heard you may post this as a suggestion for the next version in
"Connect", the place for submitting suggestions and bug reports to the

When done, pls drop a note with the URL in here so that we can jump in
and vote for your suggestion.

Ok, by "page" I am using the ON concept of a page, not referring to what is
printed (pages of paper).

"A typical OneNote notebook is made up of one or more notebook sections.
Within each section are the individual pages and subpages on which you take
notes."

I tried to make a suggestion to improve printing difficulties.

I signed in, but could not figure out how to get permission to post. I can't
look any more; I have an assignment to work on.

Anyone has my permission to submit the suggestion to Microsoft using my
words or idea.

Best of computer luck to you all,

The concept of ON is clear.
The OP, however, had clearly complined that he just wnats 1 *physical*
page and complained about gettin 9 pages insead of just 1.

And IMHO he is right when complaining.

Printimng from ON is one of its poorest areas.

Being logged is the only thing it needs.

It would be really good might you try it again some other day.
IMHO it's better if a braod user basis places a suggestion and always th
"usual suspects".
