merging templates

When I had office 2003 installed I had made extensive changes to the
normal.dot template. I've now installed office 2007 on all of my systems and
the normal.dotm does NOT contain my changes. If I open a 2003 doc file I see
all of my customizations. In 2003 it was easy to merge the inuse template
with the normal.dot template but I cannot determine how to do this in 2007.
I expected to open a 2003 doc file and merge the template being used in this
file with my normal.dotm file. Suggestions?

Use the Organizer - Alt+F8 > Organizer to copy styles and macros between
templates.
Note that macros which employed autotext will probably not work in 2007
without modification.
