heading style 4 in word 2007 not working
cynwalker 12/16/2008 8:39:19 PM
I can't get it to number correctly. Where I have 6.3.2 for Heading 3. I get
6.2.2.1 for Heading 4. The set numbering value when you right click doesn't
work at all, and I get even worse results with the other options. Any
suggestions?

Place the insertion point in the first Heading 1 paragraph of the document.
Click Home tab | Multilevel List | Define New Multilevel List. Click level
4. In the "Enter formatting for number" box, clear the contents, and then
carefully reinsert the numbering of previous levels (via the "Include level
number from" box), type in the periods, and finally add the current number
via the "Number style for this level" box. Make sure that the restarts are
set correctly (you may have to click the More button to see all options of
the dialog box). When you are done, click OK.

For more on the options of the dialog box, you may find the article at
http://www.shaunakelly.com/word/numbering/OutlineNumbering.html useful
(although it was written for versions older than Word 2007).

Thank you so much. I just couldn't figure out where to find the numbering
information since it wasn't in the numbering in the style modification any
more.
