How do I lock a cell in excel without protecting the whole doc

Locking doesn't work until the worksheet is protected. OTOH, you can
simply unlock all the cells except for the one you want to be locked,
then protect the worksheet.

Hi,

Excel 2003:

1. Select the entire sheet
2. Choose Format, Cells, Protection, and uncheck Locked
3. Select the cell or cells you want locked and choose Format, Cells,
Protection and check Locked.
4. Choose Tools, Protection, Protect Sheet.

If this helps, please click the Yes button.

Cheers,
Shane Devenshire
