Can't install SP4 for BCM with Vista Home and Office 2003
andrelix[ at ]gmail.com 5/14/2007 2:22:13 PM
I am trying to install BCM on a vista home basic laptop so we can run
Microsoft Small Business Accounting Express 2007. The laptop is a
Dell E1505 (AMD based) and I have installed Office 2003 Professional.
I have tried to install it with and without SBA installed. When SBA
is not installed the service pack installs SQL Express and then bombs
out. When I install it with SBA installed it bombs out right away.
Each time it has the same error which is:

setup failed to install microsoft office outlook 2003 with business
contact manager update (sp4)

It then tells me to look in a temp folder for a log file but the file
is never there. If you have any idea what could be happening, please
let me know and thanks in advance...

Since it is a SP, it may be looking for BCM v2. I remember something
similar occurring with the SP4 beta, although I think setup would tell
you right away that it didn't detect BCM v2. Perhaps you have some BCM
v2 bits or registry entries, so it thinks v2 is present, but then
bombs when it can't merge the SP4 changes with the BCM product?

I thought about that and tried to upgrade to SP2 and SP3, it says it
can't find the right version. Also uninstalled and reinstalled, still
no luck. Thanks for the insight though...

I wondered if you ever found a fix for this problem. I have wasted half my morning trying to do this install. I would really appreciate any insight on this. Thanks
