"Sabo, Eric" <sabo_e[ at ]cup.edu> 5/3/2007 3:59:35 PM
Where can I download all the tools from the Office 2007 Resource Kit? We
are trying to deploy Office 2007 via SMS - We need to mof file and
administration templates for group policy.

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/desktop/default.aspx this takes to the
office 2007 Resource kit library

Thanks,
Eric Sabo

Hi Eric,

You may want to read up a bit in the Office 2007 Resource Kit. :0
http://microsoft.com/office/ork
2007's primary deployment tool, the Office Customization Tool (OCT2007) is built into Setup.exe (works only with volume license
media and volume license key. This replaces the previous version ORKTools - Custom Installation Wizard and Custom Maintenance
Wizard.

The previous version Transforms (MST) have been replaced by Windows Installer Patch files (.MSP).

There is a pre-deployment tool kit, the Office Migration/Planning Manager available for download, accessible through the Office
Resource Kit (or from MS downloads -

and the Office 2007 basic Policy Administrative Templates are also available through the ORK article on them or through
http://microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=92d8519a-e143-4aee-8f7a-e4bbaeba13e7

Bob,
I read through most of the stuff, I was just wondering if I was missing
something or not.

Thanks for the information.

Hi Eric,

Even when I read through it then try some of the steps it does feel like I'm "missing something" too :) I suspect it may make more
sense for folks who haven't previously worked on an Office deployment (not having their 'how I did it last time' memory coming into
play and trying to make the switch, but then, from the questions posted, it's basically still complicated unless you have the
context of the authors who work with their terminology day in and day out.

Being able to script things can be a big help for doing multiple step installs, although that precaching the Local Install Source
(MSOCache) first through HD images or from setup does seem to help somewhat in making the next steps simpler, or at least quicker.
