Windows Mobile 5
Ian 6/26/2007 5:03:00 PM
I have installed the WM5 BCM program that syncs up with my xp pro machine
running outlook 2007 with BCM.

It installed fine, and worked, but then on my WM5 device, I set it to sort
the contacts by business rather than name.

Now, it loads up, but crashes with the hourglass type thing in the middle of
the screen, and I have to reset the WM5 device.

Even after un-installing bcm on my device and re-installing it, it still
will not work.

Any ideas?

Ian,

How many BCM Business Contacts do you have synched to your WM device? I had
about 550 and when I used to change the sort setting to "by company" it took
around 2 to 3 full minutes of full-on processing to achieve the changed view!
This kind of "bloatware" performance level just to change a view on the
mobile device was entirely unacceptable. I am a patient guy but this kind of
needless waiting is so very 90's. Try it again and just wait a few more
minutes. Your device has likely not crashed but is just working away to
change the view. Lame!

Well, I have 2540 contacts...

I did wait a good few minutes... like an hour or so, but no it still was not
working...

I've finally found a way round it though....

I un-installed from the device,
did a soft reset
re-installed BCM on the device
opened up bcm BEFORE synchronising contacts
Set the "sort by" option back to "By name"
Then synchronised.

it all works now, but it would be nice to sort by business at some point in
the future.

Cheers for your help though.

Hopefully MS will take note of this and sort it out at some point.
