onenote 2007 note working if office 2003 still installed on pc
leo [ at ] leo.gb99[ at ]gmail.com 5/30/2007 12:03:02 PM
as stated,
Our old company pc's still have office 2003 installled
if you then install onenote stand alone (or 2007 office) and keep office
2003 on, the pc freezes when you try to open onenote 2007.(task bar doesnt
respond, explorer dies.. exc)

how do i solve this? should i just get rid of office 2003 and install office
2007 on instead?

Odd behavior. I am running OneNote (and Office) 2007 just fine with
Office 2003 still installed.
Have you actually tested whether Office 2003 is causing the trouble?

Well, so far it has happened on 2 pc's, on my old one at home and on the old
one at work, at home i reformated the whole pc and installed office 2007
fresh with one note.
well at work reformating is not really an option....

i can't think of any other reason..?
office 2003 installed on the pc.
no one note 2003,,,
just installed onenote 2007

pc crashes/freezes at startup because onenote is loading up.
i have to go to safemode and uninstall onenote 2007 for the pc to work
again...

uff....
what do you think i should do?
uninstall office 2003 and install office 2007 instead and hope for the thing
to work?

I thoght screw IT, Got rid of office 2003, installed the whole 2007 suit,
installed onenote 2007, and voala, works smooth as silk.

my boss asked me to set up a notetaking program to jot down phone messages
and stuff, so one note i believe is the best.
thank you onenote developers, definetly worth the money.

p.s alhough not as usefull, thanks for the quick reply patrick.

I see you solved your problem by upgrading to Office2007, but I just thought
I would mention that I used ON2007 with Office 2003 for many months without
an issue. Most of the Outlook integration worked, also.

hp Tablet PC (tc 1100) running XP Pro in a Novell network environment; Office 2003 running native, no thin client; Installed One Note 2007 (no previous One Note 2003 on this box) and now it is the "Land of Endless One Note configuration" = whenever Outlook 2003 launches, dialog window opens showing progress of "One Note is now configuring (or something like that) with a progress bar across the bottom. After a while - another dialog appears asking if I want to reboot now so the configuration can take effect. When I reboot, and open Outlook - same thing happens over again; so now I just cancel the configuration or select "Later" in the reboot window (if I am not fast enough to cancel configuration due to phone calls or something). Doesn't seem to effect using One Note 2007 so far - but I have this uneasy feeling. This is a new job with a new firm, I used One note 2003 extensively at the former gig, this is a chance to demo the usefulness to this outfit - but not if everyone's desktop/laptop will slip into loop-land. Thoughts? Thanks! -- akpat
