Thanks for your reply, but since my query I decided to use the phone which was quite a hassle - lots of buttons to push and numbers read out far to fast - but since then while trying to access my secure bank site and I was getting 'cannot access page' but under suggestions it had to check settings for SSL 2.0, SSL 3.0, TLS 1.0, PCT 1.0 and on checking SSL 2.0 only had a click so ticked the others (except PCT1.0 which is not on mine) and then got straight into bank site. I now presume that Microsoft site being secure could have been the same problem?
