SQL issue loading BCM
JDynes 6/21/2007 5:24:01 PM
I am getting an error message when loading BCM and it ahs to do with SQL and
a previous installation. Here is the message from the bootstrap log:

Machine : DELL
Product : Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition
Product Version : 9.1.2047.00
Install : Failed
Log File : C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Setup
Bootstrap\LOG\Files\SQLSetup0013_DELL_SQL.log
Last Action : InstallFinalize
Error String : SQL Server Setup failed to modify security permissions on
registry key SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL
Server\MSSQL.2\MSSQLServer\SuperSocketNetLib for user John Dynes. To proceed,
verify that the account and domain running SQL Server Setup exist, that the
account running SQL Server Setup has administrator privileges, and that the
registry key exists on the destination drive.
Error Number : 29508

Any thoughts on how to fix?

Thanks - this was helpful. I did try to reinstall SQL but the error message
is now:
An instance with this same name is already installed on this computer; to
proceed with SQL server setup please provide a unique instance name.
- How do I do this?

Tks - JD

You could try removing Sql entirely, including any instances, and then
installing again.
