Crash & Slow
Tom R 4/21/2007 7:12:00 PM
I have spen several hours with MS tech suport trying to fix the slow BCm and
Outlook 2007 crashing. I was trying to convert from the latest Act to BCM.

BCM would not search, and ourlook would have to check the database everytime
I open outlook.

I updated the SQL. When I asked the MS tech about buying sql 2007, he said
it was bulkerer and probably slower.

I have removed BCM and returned to ACT for now. My computer seems to be in
the relatively same speed range as before installing the complete Office 2007
Small Business Suite.

Any similar experience?

Tom,

I switched to BCM 2007/Outlook a few weeks ago based on the promises from MS
that this was a good application. Like many hopeful purchasers, I bought into
the slick marketing that promised one platform for contact management. In the
2-3 weeks I have used this app, I have easily spent the majority of my user
time trying to keep BCM/Outlook 2007 operating.

Crashes, error messages, slow performance, & low functionality are the norm.
Purchase a few add-ins and your BCM/Outlook 2007 application may not run at
all. My recommendation is to never purchase MS products again without
throughly researching their capablities and reliability.

Well, I am now ready to raise the white flag and move back to my old ($59)
Contact Manager. While it is less sophisticated it is actually more funtional
and stable.

Good luck,
Bob

ps: My BCM/Outlook 2007 application is dead in the water. It will not run.
So how will I get my work done?.....

Thanks for the discouraging but reinforcing words! I have gone back to ACT,
which I have used for about 15 years!

I am frustrated withthem becuase ACT 2007 does not work with Office 2007
YET! But, I know it!

A company named Pinpoint has a book out and swears by BCM. But I swear at
IT! I did not find the format or operation to be intuitive or friendly!

Finally I lost my C drive on a one year old HP on an Internatinal trip..I
spent almost 1K to get 98% of my data back plus two weeks of lost time..I
wondered if the failing drive had anything to do with the slow performance.

When I landed from the trip on my way home from the airport I bought the
most expensive HP notebook to get back in business..with Vista..well, I like
Vista but so many companies do not have new drivers. I also have some
gremlins, probably because of some of my add-ins. OH WELL. Like a wife but
cheaper to get rid of!!
