mail merge -- attachment at bottom of email
jasontgrimm[ at ]gmail.com 5/14/2007 4:06:52 PM
Hi,

I've been using the Doug Robbins instructions for attaching files to a
mass email, and (to this point) everything has worked great. Here's
my question:

When I run the macro, the first character of my message is replaced
with my first attachment. For instance, if my message is:

"Hi. Thanks for the attachment."

I get: "<<AttachedFile>>i. Thanks for the attachment."

[Quoted Text]
>From the files that I send (ie looking in my "sent items" box), the
first character is missing, but Yahoo! and other internet mail
programs seem smart enough to compensate. (Too bad I'm not only
mailing to Yahoo emails.)

Second question: It's a little confusing to attach files at the top of
my email. Is there a way to force the attachment to the bottom, or
(better yet) into the body of my email?

Thanks!

jtg

The macro was really only designed for use with Microsoft Outlook.

I'm sorry-- I wasn't clear in my first post. I'm running the macro
from Word 2002 to Outlook 2002, and it's in Outlook where I have the
problem. (I mentioned internet mail programs because Yahoo!, for
whatever reason, seems smart enough to compensate for the lost
character.) The macro clips the attachment to the top of my email in
Outlook, often replacing the first single character of my email. I
can simply put a few spaces at the top of my email... that's an easy
enough fix for the lost characters from my message... but it would be
great to embed the attachments into the body of my email, or at least
force the attachment to appear at the bottom of the email text. Do
you have any experience with editing the placement of the attachment?

Thanks.
