BCM Contacts generates an Outlook reminder for each
"Brad Covell" <brad.covell[ at ]vai.org> 10/6/2008 1:46:33 PM
First let me write that we have deleted the reoccuring task of Backing up
the BCM database so we no longer get reminders from that task.

However, a few weeks ago and again today Outlook generated a reminder for
each contact within BCM which in our case resulted in 2200 reminders. We
have 4 users connected to a shared database and the problem only occurs on
one BCM client machine. I have looked at the task list and do not see any
BCM type reoccuring task and the contacts themselves don't seem to have
tasks or reminders assigned to them. From reading some other articles online
it seems this is not isolated. One of the suggestions was to run outlook
/cleanreminders which we can do but I'd like to fix the root cause.

Can you provide some advice on what might be happening? I'm happy to dive
into the gritty details myself but I need a place to start. Thanks for any
direction you can provide.

Thanks
Brad

Brad,

I have the same issue. I'm a single BCM user and I have 800+ reminders. The
MS rep did a cleanreminders but the problem came back.

Have you found a resolution?

That shows up in this newsgroup periodically, but I don't recall a
solution. You could search for the earlier reports to see if anyone
discovered a fix.

Bryon and Luther,

I have searched but have not seen a solution to this. I have also run
cleanreminders but a month later the user received the alerts back again. We
have 4 users and only 1 is experiencing the problem. I had that user delete
any repeating task that references BCM and that worked for 3/4 users but it
came back for 1. I expect that user to have the problem again next week when
the new month starts. It seems random. I'll let you know if it comes back.

Otherwise, look for any BCM related tasks in the Outlook Task List and
delete it and delete any reoccurring data that is associated with that task.
