Installing old Office 2003 over trial Office 2007 on new computer MaryC 12/30/2008 5:36:01 PM We finally gave up on getting our old laptop to work properly and just got ourselves a new computer. The new PC has a 60-day trial version of Office 2007 already installed on it. I've tried out 2007 before and DO NOT LIKE IT! I much prefer my old Office 2003 Student/Teacher edition. I still have the install disk from our old laptop and would like to put it on the new PC. Is this possible? I have the product key with my disk, but am I allowed to install it on my new machine--license-count-wise? What issues will I run into with the 60-day trial that's already installed--getting it out of the way to install the older version? Trying to get my answers now before running into problems. Thanks!

Thanks! \ You need to go to Control Panel, Add/Remove programs (in XP) or Programs and Features (in Vista) and uninstall the Office 2007 trial software (and also any Office activation wizard that may be showing there) and reboot the computer before attempting to install the Office 2003 software. MS Office 2003 Student & Teacher normally allows installs on three concurrent computers within the "same household." As long as you don't have the software installed on three computers currently, you can install it on the new computer in the same household. Was this S & T a converted trial on the old laptop or did you purchase the install disk in a Microsoft package that says you can install onto three computers? If it was a converted trial and you got the disk directly from Microsoft as a backup it is probably an OEM version and "legally" would not be able to be installed onto your new computer, however if the packaging says it can be installed on three, install away.
