To-Do list
David 6/17/2007 11:08:01 PM
Hi

The to-do list is handy, because I can see everything that I need to do,
which can include tasks and follow-ups on contacts/accounts/opportunities.
However, I want to see in the to-do list what the name of the company is.
However, because there are different record types, ie: task vs. contact. vs
account, vs opportunity, I end up having to add 4 different columns. Is
there a way to showing the company name regardless of the record type?

Thanks
David

David,

You could adopt the practice of including the company name in the subject
line of each of your To-Do (Tasks & Appointment) record items.

Ex: On your Task record you could type the following: "Call Joe Smith to
follow up-Acme Co." Or, an appointment record's subject line could read:
"Lunch with Joe Smith-Acme Co."

I always like to hypenate the company name at the end of my subject line
because it enables an easy find when doing a search for the item. This also
provides a quick and handy visual on any tasks lists, etc. Sometimes the the
simplest solution is the best.

Hope this suggestions helps.

Best regards,

-THP

is it possible to get the basic functionality like ACT! where the contact
name is automatically populated with (appt, todos, etc)

Packing information into the subject is a good Outlook practice.
Beyond BCM, in the Outlook calendar and task views, it helps to have
the name of the associated company or person in the item's title.

Do a search in this group for "BCM Nexus" -- Bill has written some code that
will put the contact name and their phone number on the task list.
