auto save question

When you have auto save checked,
do you have to save the document once
first before it will start saving it?

If the computer crashes, and you have
not saved it at least once, what does
it save it under then? (that is if you don't have to save it at least once
first)

thanks Bruce

The AutoSave option in Word doesn't really work like most people would
think, and some people would say the option doesn't work at all. See
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/General/AutomaticSave.htm ,
http://www.gmayor.com/automatically_backup.htm , and
http://www.gmayor.com/save_numbered_versions.htm .

The first thing one should always do when starting a new document, is save
it. And then save periodically as you work on it even with autosaves turned
on.
