There have been times when the activation server was very busy and wasn't functioning properly. Since the beta version just expired last weekend and Friday was a holiday for many folks, *maybe* there were a lot of people installing the released version. (Just a guess.)
You get something like 25 (or is it 50?) times to open a program before it needs to be activated. Just take a deep breath, have a cuppa tea, and try later today or tomorrow.
