onepkg
mdb 12/9/2008 3:19:01 AM
Hello

So I saved my OneNote notebook to a .onepkg.

I am now trying to reopen that .onepkg and I am getting an error that says
that I am using an incorrect version of the software and asks me to try to
repair.

It then fails on the repair.

What am I doing wrong? This is extremely inmportant data dn loosing it would
be well very very bad.

Thanks!

Sorry about that I should have added that as well.

Vista Ultimate 64
Office OneNote 2007 (12.0.6409.100) SP2 MSO (12.0.6412.1000)

The OneNote was created and edited in this version and was also packed in
this version and tried to unpack in this version. So that should be all
consistant.

Thanks for any help!
Cheers!

"This File does not appear to be a OneNote file:
e:\oneNote\Onenote Table of Conents.one
Do you want to Try to open it Anyway? OneNote may need to repair the file in
order to read it."

I hit "YES"

Then the following Error:

"This file is from a different version of OneNote. Your version cannot load
this file. There may be a converter available on the Microsoft Office Online
Web site that will enable it to do so."

I hit "OK" and OneNote stops unpacking.

I looked on the MS Office website and did not see a converter.

Thanks for the help!

It sounds like the pkg is corrupt. Do you use Windows Home
Server?http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946676/en-us?spid=12624

Did you install a Service Pack or make any other significant change to
OneNote after the pkg was created?

Do you have a bacukp of the original .one file?

Nope no Windows Home Server

Nope on any service Packs after the pkg creation

The ony thing that be significant could be that the OneNote document was
stored on a SharePoint server 2007 and packaged from there to a onepkg
locallay. Not sure if that would do anything.

So is the original still on SharePoint?
Or could it be restored from a SharePoint backup?
