Why doesn't the "cap" key show on or off on my window??? (Word)

When I am in EXCEL a little pane in the bottom of the field tells me if the
caps are on or off, when I am in Word I get no such indication. Is there a
way I can get something to tell me when the caps are on or off?????? Thank
you.

That would seem to be something your computer or keyboard does on its
own, not part of Word or Excel. Maybe your Word windows are obscuring
the panel?

The status bar of Word has not had a CAPS indicator for many versions now
(through Word 2003), but you can opt to show one in Word 2007 (right-click
on the status bar and select Caps Lock).
