Using different language version of BCM
PierreDa 3/23/2007 9:29:10 PM
Hi,

In the begining (before I try to install on SQL server 2005) I installed
Outlook 2007 and BCM 2007 on my server. Success !

I connect with my computer Outlook/BCM 2007 **UK** with no problem !

Thinking I finally find the solution to have a CRM I install BCM 2007 **FR**
on an other computer.

Problems begins !
No way to connect to the same server "cannot find any BCM databases on
computer SERVERNAME " ...
But I'm connected with the other computer **UK** on the DB !!

French computer has the same config (firewall is configured and we can
connect to our server, SQL Server 2005, ... without any problem !!!).

So ... I guess that all client must use same localizasion as the installed
"BCM server" ... ?

Any help will be appreciate
If I can re-install BCM ... (see other topics !!)

THANKS !

Hi,

Thanks for your answer.
Strange !
That point isn't mention anywhere !!!
Why this issue as we can do that with other MS software ? (Windows, SQL
Server, Outlook, Exchange server, ...).
Can you explain ?

Also, it will be nice during install to have the possibility to create the
BCM DB on a SQL Server 2005 if installed !!

Waiting for your news

Best regards

To answer your first question, there is a long technical answer. In summary,
the database schema for English version of BCM is different than French
version of BCM. So they are not compatible.

We are releasing a tool to create BCM db on installed SQL server. Please
watchout for the announcement on BCM team blog.

Hi,

That will be great for the tool !!!
Will help many people !

For my side I succeed to made BCM working with SQL2005 and client (UK :-) )
can connect. It was a bit hard ...

A good think will be to change the installation procedure and have the
possibility to choose to create and connect to SQL2005 !

Theres is also an issue (or more) when installing on a longhorn server (see
my other post). A file named "mapisvc.inf" can't be accessed.

Regards

Pierre

Re: Using different language version of BCM
Claus 6/13/2007 9:04:00 PM
Hi,

good to read that, I wanted to install BCM in our French Office in a couple
of days...

Now, it seems to me that we have to agree company wide to a single language
version of BCM. Should be English then.

My problem: We have BCM (German) up and running on an SBS 2003 (German) and
some clients (German). Three questions:

1. Can I mix SBS (German) with BCM (English)?
2. Can I mix Windows XP / Vista (German) + Office (German) with BCM (English)?
3. Is there any way to migrate the existing database from German to English?

Thank you, best regards,
Claus
