searching in Business Contacts
igoldsmid 3/4/2007 8:50:03 AM
Hi

I have Outlook 2007, with Windows DEsktop Search V3, and the latest version
of Business Contacts Manager. I have moved all my contacts, that were
originally in my outlook pst file, into Business Contacts Manager, Business
Contacts Folder.

It appears that instant search, using WDS 3 in Outlook 2007, does not find
anything in the Business Contacts Manager folders - is this correct or is
there something wrong with my setup?

I do realise I can use Search Folders, and Views - BUT I really want to have
instant search working in Business Contact Manager too.

Anyone have any answers here?

Thanks, IJG

Click the arrow on All Contact Items button on the Contacts navigation pane.
Check if Business Contact Manager is checked or not? Check it if it is not.
Hopefully this should solve your problem.

Re: searching in Business Contacts

one further question. OK - so I can now search Business Contacts using the
search function within Outlook 2007. However, searching in Business Contacts
is NOT Instant Search, it is the old slow kind of search I was used to when
running Outlook 2003. However Instant Search is working for all my other
Contact Folders in particular in the Default Personal Folders (pst file)
Contacts Folder. I also notice that Windows Desktop Search V3 has indeed
indexed all the Business Contact Manager, Business Contacts - and so if I use
the WDS 3 interface, I get faster results for searching Business Contacts as
they are already fully indexed.

So, in short, my question is, although I can now search in Business Contacts
from within Outlook, the nice fast instant search is not working for Business
Contacts.

Is this the current state of affairs? Or, is there something wrong with my
setup? Is Microsoft going to add instant search for Business Contacts
sometime? If so any idea when?

Thanks! :-)
