business contacts and accounts ordered by last communications history date
giampaolo.riccadonna[ at ]gmail.com 3/2/2007 2:03:34 PM
I wonder if it is possible to have a contact (or account) attribute
where it is stored the date of the last item of the communication
history folder.

This would be useful to order contacts by date of the last hit.

Giampaolo:

This is your lucky day! Go to the Business Contacts view, click on Phone
List in Current View (you can change this later), and click on Customize
Current View below the Current View section.

Click on the Fields button. In the dropdown "Select Available Fields From",
choose All Journal Fields. Click on Modified, then click on the Add button
to move it to the list of Show Fields on the right. Arrange the order by
clicking on Move Up or Move Down.

Now, you will see the last Modified Date of an item in Business History
while looking at your Business Contact list. One cool thing I found is that
if you click on the Modified column heading to sort, it automatically
grouped by date so you can see which people had something added to history
on which date.

Hope that helps,
Lon

Thanks a lot; It's useful but the "modified" field include all
modifications. I need something related only to the date of the last
mail (to or from the contact).

any suggestion?

Thanks in advance

You're tough, giampaolo... I don't know if that's possible on the contact
view. You could do a similar view on the Communication History view and
group by Modified Date, then filter that view for emails only. I can't
think of a way to do it on the contact view since the filter acts on
contacts, not history items. Filtering history items is possible in a
history view.

HTH,
Lon

It would be useful to develop a tool that write on a specific contact
field this information (may be in real time or not). Any suggestion?
