Integrating BCM with Accounting 2007
Steve R 4/21/2007 8:10:05 AM
Just installed OFFICE ULTIMATE 2007 - including OUTLOOK w/ BCM and ACCOUNTING
2007 EXPRESS.
How does one "integrate" Business Contacts, Accounts in BCM with CUSTOMERS
in ACCOUNTING 2007?

The "HELP" Section of ACCOUNTING states that that there is INTEGRATION of
ACCOUTNING 2007 with BCM Outlook 2003 ---- that's 2003!!!! (not 2007?):

"You can integrate Microsoft Office Accounting 2007 with Business Contact
Manager for Outlook 2003 to perform the following tasks:

Add customer records, contacts, and product and service items from
Accounting 2007 to Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003. Customer
records are added as Account records.
Add Account records from Business Contact Manager for Outlook 2003 to
Accounting 2007 as Customer records."

HOWEVER, NOWHERE in either OUTLOOK 2007, BCM 2007 or ACCOUNTING 2007 is
there any ICON, BUTTON or INSTRUCTION to effect the integration that I can
find.

Gosh, I hope this is not another MICROSOFT meal deal where it packages and
looks well, but just does not have the kinks ironed out yet.

Can anyone of you help lead me to the light?

Thank you!

Did you find an answer for your question? I have the same problem.
Thanks!

Lucia:
Yes and no.
After reviewing various other postings and further research, I've learned
that unfortunately the MicroSoft "solution" is not really a solution. The
OUTLOOK Contacts must be maintained separte from the BCM contacts; moreover,
the Acounting 2007 "Customers" and "Vendors" must be maintained separately
from the other two.
It is possible to transfer (import and export), but a change made in one
does not transfer automatically to the others.
In short, "integration" is not really a reality yet between OL2007 and
ACCOUNTING 2007.

A MicroSoft person did clue me into to an ADD-IN program that works within
the the OUTLOOK program itself -- called "PROPHET" by Avidian -
http://www.avidian.com/ .
PROPHET, IMHO, is far superior to BCM.
It does not, however, answer the Accounting question/need.

An alternative program is MAXIMIZER - www.maximizer.com , which I have
previously used.
It is an excellent contact management program; however, unlike PROPHET, it
must LINK into OUTLOOK. Nonetheless, it is something that I would urge you
to look into.

In either case -- PROPHET or MAXIMIZER - "QUICKBOOKS" seems to be the best
stand-along accounting program, because it integrates best with OUTLOOK,
PROPHET and MAXIMIZER.

Hopefully, MicroSoft will get its act together in the future and create a
seemless integration of BCM and ACCOUNTING. Indeed, I would suggest to MS
that it trash BCM and license PROPHET instead, then work on a flawless
integration of ACCOUNTING 2007.

Good luck!

To integrate MOA with BCM, in MOA go to menu Company|Integrate... and
run the wizard.
