new to Word 7 at new job

Usually in Word 2003 I could make fields in documents, to be completed later)
with Ctrl-F9 and then save the document. Later to complete the blanks I
would use F11.

For the kind of work I do, this was perfect. I got a new job, they have
Word 7 and I am lost. This doesn't seem to work. I need a fast way to add
go to points, for later completion.

You can accomplish this exactly the same way in Word 2007 (note that Word
7.0 is Word for Windows 95). See
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/UsingMacroButton.htm.

Suzanne,

Thanks for the help. I used to use the MVP site a lot, but haven't
lately and when I went there recently, there didn't seem to be any
stuff about this new version of Word (with the ribbon, etc.) So how
is this version of Word (which is part of Office 7) designated? I am
at a little disadvantage right now because I am on holiday away from
work and that version.

Thanks again for your help.

Diane

The version of Office is Office 2007 or Office 12.0 (not Office 7). I am in
the process of updating my articles for Word 2007, but many others remain
un-updated. But you can insert a MacroButton field using Ctrl+F9 just as
before. If you want to do it through the UI, you'd use Insert | Text | Quick
Parts | Fields...
