Point of Sale

Hello,

I know this is not the correct forum for this question, but I am not sure
where to go to find the answer. I am hoping someone can give me some
direction.

I am basically looking for any information on how to use Access in a Point
of Sale application, primarily the request for payment portion of a
transaction. I have developed small applications using bar code readers for
inventory purposes, and the use of touch screen monitors.

I would like to incorporate the use of credit card processing. There is
little information or I am not finding the information on how to initiate
the process.

I am hoping someone can give me some direction or advice (books or
newsgroups) that will help me learn about this.

Thanks in advance.

Typically, you need to contact a bank or service which runs the credit card
transactions. They will provide the card reader and possibly some sample
code. For you own security reasons, it is better that you do not actually
store any part of the transaction in your system, other than the name and
what is ordered. Let the card processor handle the transaction and report a
successful transaction code back to you. That limits your liability in case
the identity of the person is compromised.
