Word 2007 - Multilevel List Fabrizio 11/28/2008 12:06:09 PM Hello, I would like to have a multilevel list with 3 levels, having this concept: a dot («.») following the current level of numbering means the presence of underlying levels. Example: 1. chapter having subchapters (1. has the final DOT) 1.1. sub-chapter having sub-subchapters (1.1. has the final DOT) 1.1.1 sub-subchapter (1.1.1 has NOT the final DOT) 1.2 sub-chapter NOT having sub-subchapters (1.2 has NOT the final DOT) 2 chapter NOT having subchapters (2 has NOT the final DOT) How can I do? If I define a New Multilelevel List and choose a formatting number without the final DOT, and select Apply Changes to "Current Paragraph" or Apply Changes to "Selected text", the changes are applied the same to the Whole document!!! Also, if each numbering level is linked to a paragraph style, the list will change and some paragraphs will have direct formatting applied to them, which again will create a mess. I think we have to conclude that multilevel numbering in Word simply isn't as flexible as you would like it to be.
