Print without stapler
Wayne-I-M 12/23/2008 4:02:08 PM
Hi

We have a HP 4250 laserjet which we normally have on auto stapler
I am designing a large print run (from ms access) and one of the parts of
this is to call a small module to open word - print a doc - closes word

Problem is I know very little about word. I can't see the option to turn
off the stapler.

Any ideas

Many thanks

Stapling is not a Word function. You may find something in the properties
dialog box when you select Print from the File menu. Otherwise you would need
to consult the printer manual.

Yep - thought that.

I could always insert the word doc as an OLE in an access form but then
users would not be able to change it (I haqve blocked them making changes to
database objects).

It seems that all other part of Office bring up the full printer options
except word.

There is only a very basic printer option with word.

There won't be an option in Word to turn off the stapler. If this can be
controlled from your computer at all, the setting will be in the printer
Properties.

Re: Print without stapler

There is an option to turn off the stapler (and everything else) when you --
file - print
But I was looking for a way to save the settings for the specific doc.
I tried saving the format in the printer options
but when you go back to the doc and select specific printer from the option
the full dialog box is not there.

I can turn off the stapler in the printer settings but this will then save
this for all print jobs - most of which need stapling.

Oh well - looks like another OLE

Many thanks

Unlike some other applications, Word cannot store any printer settings
except tray selection in a given document.

Re: Print without stapler
Wayne-I-M 12/23/2008 6:47:02 PM
OK, no problems.

I'll cancel the shell call from access. Just have to run it as an OLE then
I can use the printer options save in access.

Will add another function to shell call the word doc for users to edit -
this way the linked OLE will be what they want to print.

Thanks for the time anyway
