advanced Toolbar - Outlook 2007 ... how do I remove unwanted 'views'?
"Dave Horne" <davehorne[ at ]home.nl> 12/31/2008 4:56:31 AM
My wife and I have inadvertently entered search words into the Advanced
Toolbar, 'Messages, Messages with AutoPreview, Last Seven Day, etc.' drop
down box. How can I remove those additional entries to that drop down box?

Thanks, Dave Horne

pull the little scrollbar all the way to the bottom and select define views.
delete the views you created from the views dialog.

Diane, first, thanks for the very prompt reply!

When I scroll down (on that Advanced Toolbar, 'Messages, Messages with
AutoPreview, etc') drop down box, there is no 'select views'. I reset the
toolbar by right clicking at the end of that Advanced Toolbar and a
Customize Box appeared. I reset from there. Is that the area I should be
looking in?

Am I not understanding something here? Thanks, Dave Horne

At the very bottom of the list, way below Messages with Autopreview, there
is an entry for Define Views. It's the very last item.

Diane, ignore my previous post, I found the correct place. Sorry. I should
have gone to Views (on the top most toolbar) \ Current View \ Define Views \
and scroll down that Custom View Organizer.

Once I scrolled down I saw all the entries and deleted them one at a time.
Thanks!

Dave Horne

You can also get to the define views dialog from the custom views command on
the Advanced toolbar. Or click in the custom views command and hit the page
down key 2 (or more times) to get down to Define views then hit enter.

Diane, while I sorted this out, things did not go as smoothly as I would
have thought.

Once I managed to find and delete the 'extra views' (the inadvertent search
words entered in the Advanced Toolbar 'Message' drop down box), one still
remained but was not listed in the Custom View Organizer. I ultimately did
manage to get things back to a default. I'm not sure what happened though.
At any rate, thanks for your very prompt help.

All the best and have a great New Year. Dave Horne
