If TrueCrypt is creating a new virtual drive, that could very well be masking the fact that it's removable. Even then, though, OneNote should work just fine. The one possible caveat is if you have multiple drives that you use in this way: if you open some notebooks from one drive, then replace it with the other and it is assigned the same drive letter, OneNote might end up thinking that your notebooks were deleted and close them. If that happens, just plug the other drive back in and re-open the notebooks and you'll be good to go again.
