Error after installing BCM2007QFE-KB935569-FullFile-ENU.EXE
Bigdawg 4/16/2007 7:10:02 PM
Need some help solving issues with BCM & 2007 Office. Below string tells the
story. The posts from "Kingdom" were helpful, however I am facing a new
problem with an error message

"Error 1913: Could nut update
INI file C:\Windows\system32\maipisvc.inf. Verify that the file exists and
that you can access it."

I found the INI file and am able to access it. It looks like we are getting
strings from others who installed a new patch for Outlook (KB933493).

I have enstalled the patch as the Admin and I checked the INI file and it is
not marked as "Read only". Any new ideas??

Hi,
Could you please give some more details on the error message? For
example, where did the error message come up from, during installation of
QFE or opening files?
If it happened during installation, is it a Vista machine? (You mentioned
that you were running as admin, if it was on Vista, did you see the prompt
for continue action?)
Also could it be that outlook was still running when you tried to install
the QFE? Could you please see if reboot the machine this still happen?
Thanks.

Hi,
It is a Vista machine. Outlook was closed. I executed the file and the
error occured during install. I was offered a the option of "retry" or
"cancel". When I clicked "retry" it would not let me proceed. When I
canceled it unloaded the install. I have rebooted the machine 12 times and
no change. I have tried to revert to a restore point (which the machine
won't let me do) and I have tried unistalling BCM and It won't let me remove
it.

Hi,
Thanks for the detailed information. Could you please verify that when
installing the QFE, you get the Vista "User Account Control" dialog and
choose to continue?

And if this User Account Control dialog does not show up, could you
please try save the QFE down to your local disk, right click the QFE exe, and
choose to "run as administrator"? There is a possibility that the admin did
not really install at admin level on Vista machine due to specific UAC
settings. Thanks.

RE: Error after installing BCM2007QFE-KB935569-FullFile-ENU.EXE
Nanjuan(MSFT) 4/19/2007 4:36:05 PM
Hi,
Sorry I cannot think of an obvious reason for the issue. Are there any
mail services/applications other than outlook running on your machine during
the time installing the QFE? Is it possible to stop those services and try
again?
Thanks.

RE: Error after installing BCM2007QFE-KB935569-FullFile-ENU.EXE
Bigdawg 4/20/2007 12:56:03 AM
Nanjuan,
Thank you for working on this. There are no other mail services running
other than outlook. Should I uninstall BCM and try to reinstall? I'd like
to try using this for my business but am tired of office apps hanging and the
neat little error dialog box when I start Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or
Publisher.

The error box title says "BCM Office Addin" and the dialog says "Office
application version does not match."

If I go to the COM Addin management of the application, it says

Location: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Small Business\Business Contact
Manager\BcmHistoryAddin.dll
Load Behavior: Not loaded. A runtime error occurred during the loading of
the COM Add-in.
