Screen clipping doesn't work
jw 6/19/2007 9:52:39 PM
I cannot get the screen clipping or Print to One Note to work. I just
removed everything and re-installed OneNote 2007 and still nothing. I can
copy and paste text into ON, and insert links to documents, but can't paste
graphics. I would like to be able to annotate over the pictures. What am I
doing wrong?

What operating system are you using? When you try to use the Screen
Clipping what happens? Do you see the OneNote icon on the system tray?

I am using XP (1 G ram) and Vista. The icon is in the system tray, and I
have tried various settings. Actually, the screen clipping portion appears
to work - the screen dims and I can select a range, but when I try to paste
(Ctrl-V) or Insert (from the menu) into OneNote, I get an error. A window
opens and tells me that "One Note has encountered a problem and needs to
close". When it restarts, the clipping isn't there. I get the same results
using the Print to OneNote. And I get the same results at home on my Vista
system with 2 G of ram. Both computers are fully patched.

Sounds like a Clipboard issue to me - do you have any 3rd party clipboard
software installed?

I'm having The same problem, I can do screenclips from the Insert (Drop-Down
Menu) but nothing happens when I do the <WindowsKey+S key> , the same is true
for the <WindowsKey+N key> for notes. When I demo'd the software the Screen
Clip feature by hot-keys was 90% of the reason I bought the program; really
great for me.

I guess we'll have to wait until enough people discover the same "bug"
before they get this thing fixed.

There are some weird bugs where if you are running OneNote as an admin and
the system tray icon (onenotem.exe) is running as a normal user. This will
cause some problems but for most people this shouldn't be a scenario that
they hit. If you completely disable UAC you won't see this at all.

Ohterwise I don't know...
