Heris 3/29/2007 10:04:00 AM

finished but when I want to open for example word or excel system shows me
just window which says " Please wait while Windows configures
Microsoft office professional 2003" and below is "Gathering requested
information". During this, all icons just blinked for a second. I do not know

Hi, Heris,

Try re-installing Office again. What version of Office 2003 do you have?

Hi Susan,
I tried re-instal office already but it does not still working. I have
Office Pro 2003. It looks like I have not permission to open that. But I
realy have not clue what is going wrong. I have tried to open office on
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office
and system says that I have not permission to open that.

Are you able to uninstall? Are you getting any kind of error message
regarding permission, or just the message "Please wait while Windows
configures..."? Are you logged into the machine as an administrator? What
operating system do you have?

Re: MS Office 2003 on MS VISTA HOME PREMIUM
Heris 4/5/2007 8:36:04 PM
Hello Susan,
I probably know already where the problem is. I really had installed MS
Office on my laptop before. I think that the problem is that some part of
previous installation is still in registers. Even, I have MS Office folder in
Program Files folder which is impossible remove. System says that I have not
a permission for that (I was logged on as administrator). I tried to remove
old parts of previous installation from registers via "regedit" but some
parts are probably still there. I tried some uninstaller but unseccessfully.
I know that the best way for that is reinstallation operation system.
Honestly, I am a bit scared about that because I have never do that before I
mean reinstall OS MS Vista Home Premium. I have only recovery DVD which I got
when I bought my acer laptop and I do not know for sure if this DVD includes
full instalation and drivers etc. So, my question is: Do you have any idea
how would be possible to remove previous installation completely from my
laptop? Thank you for any help

Have a nice evening

There is no way to "completely" remove Office from your system without
re-formatting, unfortunately. Uninstalling via the Control Panel does a
pretty good job, if it works.

I would still suggest you consider trying the steps in the order I showed.
The Windows Installer Cleanup Utility should help you remove registry
references to old versions of Office, and then you can try re-installing
Office to restore them properly.

Just make sure you have all the installation CDs and product keys you need
to re-install before you remove the registry references.
