How do i get rid of this weird symbol at the end of each line
Rcdracer 12/10/2008 8:10:04 PM
It looks like a weird backwards "P" and it only shows up when i hit enter and
instead of there being a space when i hit the space bar it puts a dot.

I'm fascinated by the number of people who don't associate the ¶ symbol on
the document (which is a paragraph mark) with the ¶ button on the toolbar.
Click that button, which turns the marks on and off. See
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/Formatting/NonPrintChars.htm to find out what
all the marks are for.

But then don't come back complaining that Word keeps printing an extra
page at the end of your document -- by far the most common reason for
that is that a bunch of empty paragraphs have collected at the end of
the document, spilling over onto a new page.

It makes sense always to have Paragraph Marks and Tabs showing (you
turn each category on/off in Options, which is in different places in
different versions).

I disagree. Turn them on from time to time as required, but editing
or reading with them turned on is a pain. It would be nice if there
was an option to change their colour so they could be change to
something less obtrusive - say to a pale pink or blue (as in WordPro)
- but there isn't.

If they're always on, situations where it would be "required" to do so
wouldn't arise.

It's often _very_ important to know whether your indent is a true
paragraph indent or a tab.

A 50% color would indeed be an improvement.

In Mac versions they are in fact grey. I agree this would probably be an
improvement (but perhaps even more confusing to users?).
