Installing Office 2007 on Vista
Brooklyn Anne 10/5/2008 7:13:02 PM
I have a new HP TouchSmart all-in-one computer that came with Microsoft Works
but not Microsoft Office. I purchased a Student and Teacher version of 2007
Office but cannot get it to install on my computer. I tested the disc by
installing it (actually it was an upgrade) on my old machine and there was no
problem. Help!!!

There is no such thing as a a Home and Student 2007 upgrade edition.

I don't know if I am in the right area. I have just installed 0ffice 2007 home and student. I am using windows mail as my primary emailer. I cannot seem to link office to my Email. Is there a way? I understand windows mail is almost the same as outlook express..

I realize this is not a reply, but I couldn't find a way to open a new thread

Mary,
Thanks for the lead but, unfortunately, it didn't work. The error message I
get when I finally cancel out of the installation is "Error 1618." The
installation appears to be happening and then it just hangs up and never
moves pasat "Installation in Progress." Any other suggestions, I would
welcome.

Re: Installing Office 2007 on Vista

I agree. The Home and Student 2007 software I purchased said nothing about
being an upgrade. When I installed it on my old computer as a test for the
disk, it showed "upgrade" since I had Office 2003 installed on that system.
The window that opens up says "upgrade" and the other "customize." When I
try (underline try) to install it on my new system, the window that comes up
says "install" and the other "customize." The installation starts and the
green bar goes across the window all the way to the end and then stops.

Any and all help is welcome.

Please don't tell me I can look forward to even more problems when (and if) I
ever get this installation challenge overcome. Good luck!

Which option did you select? Have you tried the other?
