First, what version of PPT are you using. PPT 2003 and earlier allowed you to simply rename the file. In PPT 2007, you have to open the file in PowerPoint and choose Save As from the Office button and then change the Save As type to PowerPoint Show. You might try this regardless of what version you are using before you start mucking with the registry. --David
