WARNING
If you are saving directly to a CD/RW I highly recommend that you stop immediately. Saving or working directly with any form of removable media is dicing with losing documents through corruption. Always work to/from the local HDD and then copy or burn to the removable media. There are many posts in these newsgroup of users who have learnt this the hard way.
In the case of CDs or CD/RWs, the action of writing to them always assigns the Read Only attribute (nothing to do with Word). When you copy them back to your HDD, you will need to select them in Explorer, right-click, choose Properties and remove the Read Only Attribute.
