Startup Folder
Andy Smith 12/16/2008 3:27:01 PM
Hiya,

We have moved the Startup folder to a network share, so that we can drop
templates into the folder for access by everyone, instead of going to each
machine one by one.

However, the first person to load Word (which opens with no delay) is
'locking' all the templates, making Word open very slowly for everyone else
(about 15-20 seconds).

How can I prevent users from 'locking' the templates.

Thanks

We just create a share on the network where we placed the templates then had
each of the workstation point to that share.

Yes that is what I have done, but when the first person opens Word it locks
the files, which for some reason causes Word to open very slowly for everyone
else.

I have solved it any way, by removing Write Attributes and Write Exetended
Attributes permission for all users.
