Excel 2007 corrupt files
szuniga 12/23/2008 2:52:02 PM
I am unable to open several Excel 2007 documents (xlsx extension), original
(probably) 2003 documents and I have tried everything from using Excel
repair, to downloading conversion tools and the (advanced) Excel repair
tools, but I am unable to open the documents: Message is "Excel cannot open
the file "namefile" because the file format or file extension is not valid.
Verify that the efile has not been corrupted and that the file exension
matches the format of the file".
File extension is .xlsx. Also tried to use .csv extension, importing and
exporting to Access but cannot get any tool to work. If you may have a
solution, please let me know. Thanks.

IIRC, I saw an error like this when I was saving a file programmatically in
Excel 2007 using the wrong syntax.
