MS WORD 2002 SP-2

I'm struggling with a problem in MS Word and I really hope someone out there
can help me. I am relatively proficient in Word but this problem that is
really baffling me.

I am modifying documents which were sent to me for publication and each
document has a header and footer which is in the form of a table. Within
this table I want a page number and total number of pages - eg 1 of 4 on the
first page and 2 of 4 on the second etc etc. However, after attempting all
sorts of formatting, the page number on every page appears as 0 of 4. The
total number of pages is correct but the actual page number is always 0. I
have also noted that the Status Bar also reflects each page as being 0.

It does not seem to be a corrupt document and all the documents which were
sent to me, about 150 docs in total, all have the same problem.

Is there anybody out there who has experienced this problem or who can help
me???
