how do I reconnect a bcm database

I foolishly didn't use BCM to backup my database when I was
transfering computers. I have the original mdf and ldf files, but of
course BCM won't recognise them and wants to create a new database.

Is there a way to restore/reattach/reconnect, whatever, these
databases?

I can setup SQL Server if needed.

As a follow up, I was able to move my existing files onto a sql2000
server and attach the database successfully. is there a way to get
BCM to connect to the database there?

Since you know how to attach databases to sql, attach your old
database to the sql on your BCM machine. Then during BCM first use the
database will show up as available for connecting.

If you want to access the database on another machine, you will have
to get the BCM port and instance name values in the Registry to match
those on your sql server. The database host name is in the BCM store
entry in your mail profile.
