Very New User?

Can someone point me in the direction of how to get started with
OneNote? I've got OneNote 2003, but don't have any idea what to do with
it. I was under the impression that it's really only useful if you have
a tablet, but it seems from this group that people are using it
otherwise too. I'd like to know more about that.

OneNote 2003 is a relatively cumbesome application whose main strength
is that is allows text and ink (handwriting) to be displayed in the
same note, simultaneously. Other than that, it's a 1.0 app from
Microsoft !

I think OneNote *CAN* be used for some things, but for the most part
there are much better apps out there, depending on what YOU want to
accomplish.

Which begs the question, what do you want it to do ?

FYI, OneNote 2007 is a much more useful app with much improved
internal and external linking and better integration with Outlook
2007. OneNote's peer to peer synching over a Hamachi VPN is very
enjoyable. I have My OneNote Notebooks at home, at work, and on my
Tablet, all synched up, and it is done without any intervention. :)

While I agree that the OP should forget ON2003 and move to ON2007, that
doesn't answer the original question.

OneNote is a note-taking application primarily but not exclusively geared
towards students and businesspeople.

It makes a very good file cabinet to group files from different sources but
for the same purpose. You can look at them all at the same time without
opening multiple files. For example, doing research on a particular topic.
When you find something you want to keep from whatever source, you can copy
it to your OneNote and organize it later. It's also a great place to keep
information for traveling (i.e. electronic tickets, hotel info, sightseeing
ideas) all in one place so you don't have to go searching back thru your
email, etc. when the time comes.
