Migrating Note Flags?
Peter Blitstein 4/7/2007 5:18:02 PM
I fear I may have caused myself some real problems. Here is what I've done:

1) Bought new computer, transfered OneNote 2003 data from old computer to
new computer. Worked with this data on new computer, not realizing that I
had not transfered the flags (indeed, I'm not sure how to do this!) from the
old computer to the new one. Since the sections I was working with didn't
have flags (though others did!), had no problems.

2) Upgraded to OneNote 2007 today, tried to work with the sections that had
the (many!) personalized flags only to discover that they no longer exist.
To make matters worse, when I run a flag summary, it finds the old flags, but
crashes. The text labels on the old flags are gibberish characters
sometimes, other times seem to be Chinese.

Is there any way I can migrate the flags from the old computer to the new,
keeping in mind that this would entail also doing so from the 2003 to 2007
version? If not, is there a way I can delete the old flags to keep them from
crashing whenever I run flag summary?

Thanks in advance!

I think there is no easy way around this. Noteflag conversion from 2003 to
2007 doesn't work, despite it being reported as a bug in the beta versions of
2007.
