BCM and Outllok 07
Jessica 10/27/2008 2:42:08 PM
I upgraded to Office 07 and did not think (much to my dismay) about whether
or not I have BCM 07. All of my bus. contacts are not in Outlook. What can I
do to retreive them?
RE: BCM and Outllok 07

You can import your contacts into Outlook
File...Import and Export...Outlook

If BCM does not show up on your menu bar, then you probably do not have it
installed. You can check on the Office 07 box/case to see it states that BCM
is included. If so, you have to install Disc/CD 2.

It does not come with the package we bought. Do you know how to convert the
bc to outlook contacts? I have them on another computer. So if I can convert
them to .pst then I can import them into outlook 07.

Any other suggestion?

Thanks...

The process depends on the previous program storing the business contacts.
You have to copy the file from the other computer to the new computer.

Select File....Import and Export...Outlook
Select "Import from another program or file"....Click Next
The dialog box will show a list of formats/programs that you can import
from. Select the most appropriate one. The list includes the .pst format. If
this format works best for you, then you can use it. Click Next
Browse to select the file to be imported...and follow the prompts....

Hope this helps......

When I attempt to export I have two alternatives: 1. Export Outlook contact
2. Export Business Contact Manager...That is how they are stored. Is there a
way to change the way BCM is stored? I am really at a loss here.

Thanks..

To move your business contacts in Outlook 2003 w/BCM to contacts to Outlook
2007 (no BCM)......

Export BCM business contacts using file type .csv. (note that this will only
export contact details and not the associated BCM accounts, history etc.)...
You can then copy the exported file to the new computer.

In Outlook 2007, Import...Outlook..Import from another file or
program....Next
Select CSV (Windows)...Next...and then follow the prompts. The destination
folder should be Contacts. Also check the mapping of the fields. If you did
not use custom fields in Outlook 03, then the default mapping would work.

Hope this helps....

You can pm me if you still have problems....

Re: BCM and Outllok 07

It definately seems as though that should work but when I try I get an error
message (at the very end) saying: "Outlook was unable to retrieve data,
verify that you have correct data, permission to open it, and not open in
another program"

I opened the file to make sure that the data was there and it is. Any
thoughts?

Call me stupid...not sure what pm is?

Check whether you are logged on with Administrator rights on the computer,
or try running Outlook as an administrator (Right click the desktop icon and
select "Run as Administrator".

If still having problems, you can send me a personal email:
