Installed Outlook2007, fully patched it and the PC. Running XP sp3. Installed BCM2007, then installed SP1. Open OL2007, then the wizard runs. When it goes to the registation dialogue box, the side bar progress to the end, then restart, it does this three times, then outlook hangs. IT seems as though it is looking for a web site and can't find it. I did not have this problem with OL2003. Please help.

BCM 2003 did not have any registration or activation, so 2007 is different in this area. Have you tried to skip or cancel registration?

HI Luther, Yes I have cancelled, when the wizard starts I can cancel it, if it gets to the next screen, cancel hangs Outlook. I downloaded the Office 2007 and BCM from technet for evaluation. I have uninstalled and reinstalled but I get the same problem, with the registration box. Cheers Denis

Does it hand indefinately? If its trying to connect to a server on the internet to upload registration info, or trying to connect to sql to create the BCM database (possibly the next step in the wizard), those operations should time out. People have reported various errors in the first use wizard over the years, but I don't recall it hanging indefinately.

HI Luther, This is where I am at the moment. I originally had Office2003, and just installed Outlook2007 then the BCM. THe hanging at registration happened. I have since removed all elements of office2003 and Outlook, using the standard uninstall procedures. I download Office enterprise 2007 from my Technet subscription. I installed it and all is fine. I then downloaded BCM also from my Technet subscription, and the hanging at the registration screen behaves the same. It tries to register and does this 18 times, then hangs. You have to end the process to close outlook. I left it running overnight, just in case, but no difference. Cheers Denis

I'd recommend contacting MS Support. Support should be free for the first 90 days.
