Can you reopen a cached notebook that you have accidentally closed

We have multiple shared notebooks on our server, and edit them every day. We
have quite a few people that will be taking OneNote on the road with them and
syncing it when they get back.

If they open the cached notebook offline and close it by mistake, is there
any way to reopen it without reconnecting to the network and reopening the
shared notebook?

No unfortunately. Re-opening the Notebook would be treated the same as
opening it up the first time. It needs the full source of the Notebook to
perform the initial sync.

Do these folks have some type of Remote Access or a VPN from which they can
securely connect to your servers and reopen the Notebook?
