Removing Office 2007 causes issues in Office 2003
OttersWeb 4/2/2007 1:38:08 PM
I was trying the 2007 trial version and when the expiration came and went on
3/31 I was in the position that I needed to remove it and continue using my
purchased 2003 version until I can afford to update it. However, when
uninstalling 2007, something happened to Outlook where I can no longer send
emails. There is no "Send" button in the email window, no "Send/Receive" on
the toolbars nor on the menus. I also had to dig out the original
installation disc and TOTALLY reinstall everything except One-Note and
FrontPage as they were no longer accessible after removing 2007. When I saw
the "send" button was not on my emails, I ran a repair which did not fix it,
and I TOTALLY removed Office 2003 and reinstalled it. I am still at the point
where I see no "Send" button and such and can no longer use Outlook 2003
even. I had to figure out back doors to get my emails into Outlook Express as
well as my address book and email account settings.

I am pulling my hair out already so I have not even BOTHERED to open any of
the other 2003 applications in fear of what I may find. A little freaked at
the moment as I was one of the thousands of folks whos system was currupted
during the IE7 disaster and am afraid I have lost even more data and such
with this issue (Actually, I am SOOOO peeved that I have to remove myself
from the office as soon as this post is sent so I don't go off the deep
end...)

Assistance please? I REFUSE TO PAY ANY MONEY TO MICROSOFT AGAIN FOR THEIR
ERRORS AND SCREW UPS WITH SOFTWARE... In fact, I am about ready to say to
hell with your company all together until you start backing your products
with the support necessary when it totally WHACKS out people VERY expensive
machinery and wasting my time, losing my data and COSTING ME MONEY DUE TO
DOWN TIME IN MY OFFICE!!! What gives folks?? PLEASE!!! HELP!!!

Did you use the trial version or the beta? The beta is the one that
expired on 3/31, so my guess is you had the beta.
If you had the beta, why are you complaining? Betas have bugs and are
not too be used in a production environment (using them in such an
environment actually violates the license agreement you agreed to when
installing). It's not Microsoft's fault that you decided to install a
beta version on your computer.
Also, these are peer supported newsgroups. Microsoft doesn't get your
angry message here, only fellow users do.

I would say you prob. only have problems with Outlook. The rest of the
Office 2003 suite should be fine. In the Outlook main window,
right-click on some empty space next to the menu or toolbar and select
Customize. Switch to toolbars, pick Standard and hit Reset. Say yes. You
should also do the same in the windows where you don't see the buttons.
I am thinking this will fix your problems. If not, post back.
