I think someone mentioned a while back that BCM polls once per second, and then if there aren't any changes after a certain number of polls, it increases the time interval between polls. I know that some data is expected to change on screen if it gets updated (e.g. in a folder view) while it won't be changed by polling in other places, like forms. I believe that if you open a form, the data won't be updated on the form, so that what you typed in won't change before you have a chance to save it.
