Converting problems with onenote 2007
Sammage 2/27/2007 2:27:03 AM
I have a couple questions;
My trial version of ON 2007 is up on wednesday so I went out and bought
Microsoft office Home and Student bc it includes onenote - however when i try
converting the trial it won't accept the product key - am I going to have to
return the office and just buy onennote separately?

Secondly, I installed the 2007 trial in the beginning of the year, but the
install while converting my 2003 trial files did not get rid of the 2003
onenote trial on my computer - but i'm too worried to uninstall it bc
everytime I try and go and back up my 2007 files the computer says they are
2003 files and can't be opened bc that version has expired - however, when i
open up ON 2007 - there are all my files. Is it safe to delete the 2003
trial, or will converting to full 2007 do that?

Thanks

You have to uninstall the trial version since the home and student isn't the
exact same product. It shouldn't interfere with your notebooks though.

I should clarify.....you have to upgrade a trial version with the exact same
product version. If you have OneNote Trial then you have to upgrade to
OneNote retail version. It works the same for H & S.

So if I uninstall the trial, I won't lose the notebooks associated with it
and will be picked up by installing the office home and student 2007?
thanks

Exactly. The notebooks are just files and folders in your file system. You
might need to reopen them after reinstalling OneNote (File | Open | Notebook)
but the notes themselves won't be affected.
