Conditional Text
Dean Fraiquin 12/4/2008 1:18:02 PM
Hi,

Am merging data into a directory from a .csv file (originally from an
Access database). I have several fields that need labels (e.g. Tel:
XXXXXXXXXX) As some records will not have data in this field, how do I set up
the mergefield to show 'Tel: ' infront of the telephone number, but not show
it if there is no data in that field?

Many thanks for your anticipated assistance.

Being an idiot and not looking at Word properly, found just what I was
looking for - to do this, highlight the field, right click and use the edit
fields options. There you can add in text before or after the field if there
is data in it.

Hi Dean,

You could format the mergefield along the lines of:
{MERGEFIELD Tel_No. \# "Tel: (00) 0000 0000;;"}
where 'Tel_No.' is your mergefield's name.
