Date Format Problems

I have several date fields on a merge document, merging from Excel,and have
used
FieldName \[ at ] "MM-dd-yyyy"

but the result is the excel storage format ex = 39098 should be 01-16-2007

Forgot to mention I am using Word 2007

The chances are that you have a mix of cell types in your date column in
the first 8 rows of the excel sheet See
